Shakespeare Festival 2011
A large number of us visited Trinity again this year and hugely enjoyed the performance of Macbeth. It was superb we enjoyed this spooky play (in the rain) with some lovely wine and amzing home baked goodies, finger food and delightful strawberries. The festival was even better than last year, certainly my most favourite meeting of the year. Roll on Shakespere festival 2012...
Shakespeare Festival 2010
Five of us visited Trinity college this year to see the performance As you Like It. What a great evening we had, shame about the weather but we had cunning seats under a tree so were pretty sheltered. We sat and watched FOR FREE, yay, the Shakespeare play over a lovely glass of wine. The group thourghly enjoyed the event and it was extremely comical which was great. Such an interesting event for our bookgroup as Shakespeare was the master at story telling and where I am sure much inspiration is to be had from him today's books, particularly those romance ones.
Something we would do again, perhaps a more dramatic one next year.

EVENTS
Women's Word 09
Our first outing as a bookgroup was to Women's Word at Lucy Cavendish. Fiona Shaw came to discuss her new novel 'Tell it to the Bees' . The talk by the author was an insightful discussion which we all enjoyed. She also discussed her book 'Out of Me' which explored her personal exprience of post natal depression. The session was very moving and educational which was most welcome.
Women's Word 10
Another year of the Lucy Cavendish literary event. Not as good as the previous year but still intersting. as a group we saw Sophie Hannah discuss her new crime novel 'A Room Swept White'. It was a dissappointment as the audience seemed hooked on the theme of the book as a subject rather than looking at the book itself. We didn't learn much behinf the novel but we were put through a discussion of two true cases that were in the media. For us as a bookgroup this was not what we had come for and we were somewhat dissappointed.
We were still grateful for the experience but the event was clearly not as good as last year. Better luck in 2011 FolksOnBooks.

Cinema Trips
This was an unofficial bookgroup trip where a couple of us went to see Dorian Gray. We had read the book before christmans and when the film came to the cinema we thought it would be really intersting to see how the book compared to the film. This is such an intersting subject in modern society as most films follow books and are often a huge success e.g. Harry Potter or total flops becuse the book is changes so much e.g. The Lovely Bones.
We enjoyed the film but it had been adapted to suit the big screen and was more supernatural and fantastical than the book.
